Mizugaki Bouldering

Today Team G went up to Mizugaki for some pebble wrestling. What a beautiful day. We headed to the Emperor boulder and climbed four or five fun problems. After a snack we went in search of new boulders up the trail. We found a few boulders that looked interesting. One boulder in particular stood out to me. It was a 10 foot tall granite block with a slightly over hung face that moved through decent sloper crimps to a gnarly top out. The top was covered in a thick moss and I’d forgotten to bring my brush so I was not able to top this one out. I am looking forward to going back to finish this one. We hiked a bit more up trail, then headed to the onsen.

I have to say that this is not where I normally climb at Mizugaki, but the rock is enjoyable. Thus far, Mizugaki is my favorite place to climb in Japan. If you are ever around these parts, Mizugakiyama is a mandatory stop for the climbing and bouldering. I am making plans to head back on Monday if the weather holds. I really need me some Mizugaki!!
