Matsumoto Castle

On the southern edge of the Nagano prefecture is the beautiful city of Matsumoto.  A city know for it’s rich history, internationally recognized university and handmade wooden furniture.  But Matsumoto Castle, or Crow Castle is my far the most popular attraction today.  Built in the late 1500s, Crow Castle has seen more than 23 rulers until the end of the feudal period in the 1800s.  Today anyone can take a tour of the castle’s grounds and even take a more intimate tour of the castle’s intricate interior.

The day I visited the castle, the fall colors were a few days past their peak.  I was still able to find a few spots with beautiful leaves that helped accentuated the castle’s beauty.  Let me know what you think of the photos below.  I plan on going back when the snow sets in for a much more dramatic depiction.  Enjoy.
