My climbing and development partner Jack Nakane recently showed me a new area that he happened upon a month or so ago. Needless to say, this place is big and offers some great quality highball boulders. I have not had much time to spend here, but I can honestly say that this area is going to be rad once it is cleaned and developed.
The rock is a very interesting type of volcanic that is unfamiliar to me, with pockets and slopers everywhere. Saying that this rock is very featured is an understatement. We have only sent a few lines here due to the thick tree cover that will not allow the moister, that is very heavy this time of year, to ease. A few moderates have gone up with at least four to five potentially very hard lines that can go up any day now.
Below, Jack sends a V2 warm up on one of the many boulders in this area. Don’t let the grade fool you like it did me. The top out is for real.
