Mizugaki With Said Belhaj
This past week I was able to take Said Belhaj out to Mizugaki for some bouldering. Said was passing through Japan on his way back home after the Petzl Rock Trip in China.
As it turned out Said loved Mizugaki. He even opened up a couple of new problems too. Said made quick work of an airy arete on the Gandhara boulder that he says feels like V6/7. He called it Japanese Mountain Girl. The second is a sit start to Mississippi Steamboat. MS is V6, but Said thinks the sit is at least V8. The hardest line that has been climbed so far in this area is Bear Paw Man V10/11. Said was able to make the second ascent and confirmed the V10 grade. After showing him around more of the area, Said too seemed to agree that Mizugaki is a fantastic area for bouldering, with infinite potential. A real wow factor here.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting and hanging out with Said while he was here is Japan. I really hope I have the chance to run into him again soon. Cheers Said!
The real question is who is going to come next and experience the amazing granite boulders at Mizugaki?
